Purpose Statement:
The Finance Clerk supports the finance department with essential administrative and financial processing tasks. The role includes capturing requisitions, processing purchase orders and supplier invoices, managing document scanning, and assisting with finance-related trackers and data gathering.
Role Content:
Requisition & Purchase Order Processing
- Capture purchase requisitions and route them for approval in line with delegated authority (e.g., to the Senior Accountant for standard approvals).
- Generate purchase orders (POs) once approved.
- Send approved POs to the relevant departments for distribution to suppliers.
Invoice Administration
- Capture incoming supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Follow up with departments for outstanding documentation and resolve any discrepancies.
Document Management
- Assist with scanning and uploading finance documents to Syspro or other relevant systems (once implemented).
- Maintain an organized and up-to-date filing system (digital and physical) for financial records.
Finance Support & Reporting
- Support the Finance Manager and Senior Accountant with administrative tasks.
- Assist with maintaining trackers and compiling data required for reporting and analysis.
Provide general support to the finance team as needed.
Role Requirements:
Relevant Diploma or Degree: NQF Level 6/7
Experience:
1-2 years’ experience in a finance or admin support role
